Mitgliederzahlen und die Anzahl der nationalen Attac–Gruppen stiegen schnell an. Wann immer es um die Globalisierung und ihre Kritiker geht, ist der identify Attac präsent. Attac wurde deshalb beispielsweise von der Süddeutschen Zeitung als einer der „erfolgreichsten politischen Vereine der Gegenwart“ bezeichnet (vgl. Eskola/Kolb 2002). Der „Stern“ wiederum erkor Attac zur „Bewegung des Jahres 2001“ (vgl. Eskola/Kolb 2002). Oder, um Albrecht von Lucke zu zitieren: „Auf dem Markt der alternativen Organisationen ist Attac derzeit wohl die ‚Marke für Globalisierungskritik’.“ (von Lucke 2002; S. 24) Attac ist innerhalb kurzer Zeit zu einem zentralen Bestandteil der globalen sozialen Bewegung geworden, die hier als „globalisierungskritische Bewegung“ und nicht als „Anti-Globalisierungsbewegung“ bezeichnet werden soll. Die Titulierung als „Anti–Globalisierungsbewegung“ ist unangebracht da: „The overwhelming majority of activists are pro-globalisation, certainly items of it.“ (Harding 2004; S. 419)

Weiterhin werden dann die Strukturen, insbesondere von Attac Deutschland, und die Strategie von Attac beleuchtet. Nach einer Darstellung der Erfolgsgründe soll dann, vor einem abschließenden Fazit, der Kontroverse um Attac Raum gegeben werden.
